(More customer reviews)The magnetic detents provide a constant resistance that is cushioned by air. Although they are not necessary, they are a simple upgrade if you need new ones. I am definitely happy with mine. I paid $11.00 for mine through ANSgear. I ordered them for $10.50 through [...] but they never came and they never gave a refund. Pease buy from Amazon because they will help you out in case you need to make a claim. They really aren't worth more than $12-13v unless you LOVE your ION.
