(More customer reviews)Well, if you purchased a Benjamin (Crosman) PCP airgun like the Discovery, Katana or Marauder, you're going to need a a way to fill it. These guns can be filled with CO2 or air, and with air, they can be filled from a scuba tank using a special adapter, or pumped up using one of these pumps.
I chose the pump since i live in a small town that does not have a dive shop that can fill scuba tanks. The pump itself requires a little assembly to get the foot plate and the pump handle attached. This is only tightening 4 screws, so it's over quickly and then you can begin pumping.
Filling the Discovery with this pump is pretty quick and it's even quicker topping off the reservoir between shooting sessions since you don't have to start from completely empty.
I only wish this pump could work faster. Because it's a high pressure 3 stage pump, the amount of air per stroke that actually enters the pump's exhaust is very small. I had originally hoped to be able to use this pump to fill paintball tanks as well as PCP airguns. While it DOES work to fill a paintball tank, there are some things you need to know.
I have a 4500psi 68 cu. in. paintball tank. In order to fill it to about 1800 psi (when I gave up) I had to do enough pumping that I could have filled my Discovery air rifle 20 times over. It can be done, but it is so much work and takes so long that it isn't really a viable means of filling paintball tanks. Don't waste your time and money if that's your intended use for this pump.
Otherwise, it's perfect for filling the PCP air rifles.
