(More customer reviews)I did much research on the Internet for the best barrel to put on my A5 Tippman that I bought from Ultimate Paintball [...]
here on Amazon . I decided on the Hammerhead Flatline barrel by Tippman since the reviews were overwhelmingly convincing . Note that many of the reviews mention not all brands of paintballs work through this barrel . I took it out yesterday and fired 4 different brands through it with the balls from my local paintball park being one of them . 3 did fine but the balls from the paintball park all break in the barrel . That sucks since 95% of all my paint balling is at that park ,so now I will only be able to use it on the "Bring Your Own Balls" days which is only twice a month .
I have not yet seen any improvement on accuracy or distance . Again the reviews mentioned that you have to experiment with velocity before the accuracy kicks in .
The package I bought Included the aircraft grade aluminum shroud (very cool and worth the money - you will want this item ) and the stock . I`m not impressed with the stock although very well built , since a stock severely restricts maneuverability of the gun on the battle field . Also you cant use the red dot scope with the stock since when placed to your shoulder the top of the gun and the scope are way to low making you have to hold it in front of your face at arms length . Stock looks very cool on the gun but will go into my bag of unused/non-needed gear .
I would highly recommend one of the quick release thumb bolt kits or go to the hardware store and get your own finger bolts for quick barrel removal because it is nearly impossible to get a squeegee through it on the gun and you will apparently be using the squeegee a lot , at least until you get the right balls and right velocity .
Also a quick velocity adjustment screw is a must so you can do the constant velocity changes it will take to find the right setting (4 hours of constant changing and I cannot find a settings that works better or worse)
I will probably end up retiring the barrel to the unused/non-needed gear bag where the flatline barrel for my pro98 Tippman lives and buying some other sniper barrel . Had my A5 one year now and love the gun but have bought many add-ons and several barrels only to have the local paintball park rental guns outperform mine in both distance and accuracy .
If my results ever get better on the barrel I will update this report but currently think you can do better with some other as yet unknown sniper barrel .
